Continuing with the tradition, what better way to describe the year that was (2008) than through pictures:

Even Photoworld Asia 2009 is Hit by the Recession
Well, at least, that’s the impression that struck me. Last year, there were numerous models available for shoot at the same time, this year-so far-only the Canon booth have one.
Nevertheless, here are some photos I took:
Photoworld Asia 2009 Schedule
Photoworld Asia or Photoworld Manila, whatever you want to call it, is set to open the exhibit in the Glorietta Activity Center on January 29 to February 3, 2009.
I’m looking forward to joining this photographic event, just like last year. I’ll have it marked in my calendar.
From the official website:
PhotoWorld Asia 2009 is a photography convention and trade exposition for the photography industry in the Philippines and neighboring countries in Asia. This year’s event holds simultaneous activities from January 29 to February 3, 2009 at the Glorietta Ayala Center and the Asian Institute of Management in Makati.
The trade show at the Glorietta Ayala Center will be open to the public the whole time during PhotoWorld Asia 2009 from January 29 to February 3. It will feature the latest products from the major players in the industry including Nikon, Canon, Sony, Olympus, Fujifilm, HP, Panasonic and many others.

Rekindling My Love for Photography
I bought two photography magazines today, hoping to rekindle my lost (I hope really not) love for photography.
I have not been shooting for quite some time already. And I thought buying the latest issues of Digital Photographer Philippines (DPP) and I-Mag Photography, both from local publishers, would help me go out and shoot.
Looking forward to more photo opportunities in my trip to Baguio sometime next week.
Leave It On The Line
Iloilo: Up Close in Photographs
What better way to describe my beloved home province, Iloilo, than by pictures.
Included in the gallery are:
- University of the Philippines in the Visayas Main Building – it was once a city hall donated by the city governement to the institution;
- Deco’s La Paz Batchoy – the first thing that comes in to mind when you say “Iloilo”, the special La Paz Batchoy;
- Jaro Cathedral – Nuestra SeƱora de la Candelaria;
- Jaro Cathedral Belfry – it’s standing alone in the plaza, separate from the Cathedral structure;
- Lou Franz Beach Resort – I still have to make a separate post regarding this. Watch out for that soon;
- Miag-ao Church – one of the world’s heritage site in the Philippines;
- Tigbauan Church – and the famous mosaic inside the church.
Back to Back: Surigao and Palawan
Got to visit Surigao and Palawan recently for a business trip. To make good on my promise, I brought prime lenses only in those two places: the Canon EF 85mm f/1.8 USM and its younger brother, the Canon EF 28mm f/1.8 USM lenses.
Visit my flickr account for more pictures.
Bullet Points: Facebook, Friendster, Tumblr, Prime Lenses
Tumblr Search
Good news for Tumblr users. Now we don’t have to wait anymore for Google to index our pages in tumblr in order for Google Custom Search to actually display search results from our tumblr archives. Tumblr now has a built-in search.
Wait, now how am I gonna implement this in my tumblelog?
The Power of Prime Lenses
Oftentimes, beginners dismiss prime lenses as inconvenient. And they overlook the positive side of it:
- They are usually cheaper as compared to equivalent zooms, as they are less complicated to design and manufacture.
- They usually produce better pictures. No rotating elements as for zooms, so usually no setbacks for the convenience of zooms. I don’t really have no pictures as evidence to back that argument. Just better ask the experts. But, really, based on experience, one usually makes the most our of his/her DSLR while using prime lenses.
- It helps you become more creative with your composition, as you zoom by your feet.

Roxas Boulevard, Mall of Asia, Bonifacio High Street, Serendra
Did really miss shooting for the last three weeks because of the busy schedule. During which time, my camera was not even out of the bag, thus the house. Really have a lot of catching up to do.
Below are the latest photos I had during my travel around the metro:
