Listening to NU-107 at E-RadioPortal.com

NU 107In as much as I would like to join the Kill Bill’s Browser bandwagon, there are just certain sites that doesn’t support the fantastic firefox.

Just like this one, being outside the country I have been longing to listen to Philippine radio stations, especially my favorite NU 107. I have long visited e-radioportal.com only to find out the links appear to be broken or defective. Until just today, when I tried accessing it through Bill Gate’s browser, the Internet Explorer, and everything seems fine.

The site uses Windows Media Player to stream the audio from these stations, and it’s only compatible with internet explorer (IE). The thing is the web developer of the site couldn’t even make the site compatible for most web developers’ favorite browser, the mozilla firefox? O c’mon, you can do better than that!

Ninja Turtles

Ninja Turtles

This was one of the Friday treats during our childhood days. And childhood means Elementary days. As such, this movie should have been titled MNT instead of TMNT. It should have been Mutant Ninja Turtles only, not Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.

What do you think of that? hehe

The Fourth of July

Following is the speech of Mr. President in the 1996 movie “Independence Day”, which I used to memorize and I used to recite in front of our Comm III class back in college.

I liked this speech as it can cause goosebumps when delivered with feeling, especially when one think of it within the context of the movie. I especially was moved during that scene in the movie.

Good morning. In less than an hour, aircraft from here will join others from around the world. And you will be launching the largest aerial battle in this history of mankind.

Mankind — that word should have new meaning for all of us today.

We can’t be consumed by our petty differences anymore.

We will be united in our common interests.

Perhaps it’s fate that today is the 4th of July, and you will once again be fighting for our freedom, not from tyranny, oppression, or persecution — but from annihilation.

We are fighting for our right to live, to exist.

And should we win the day, the 4th of July will no longer be known as an American holiday, but as the day when the world declared in one voice:

“We will not go quietly into the night!

We will not vanish without a fight!”

We’re gonna live on!

We’re gonna survive!

Today, we celebrate our Independence Day!

Just an Ordinary Dream

It was a late night in December 2002 when a very good friend, Wilson Justo, and I, while waiting for a bus ride home, made a resolution that five years from then, by December 1, 2007, we should be driving our own car.

Fast forward to the present, it seems like Wilson has fulfilled that dream way before that deadline:

Wilson1

Wilson2

Wilson3

For me, I didn’t really intend to break that dream. It just so happened that I needed to re-channel my priorities.

To Wilson, congratulations!

Photo.net Blocked in Qatar

I can’t take this anymore. I couldn’t help myself anymore from denouncing the fact that photo.net is blocked in the internet here in Qatar. Can you believe it? Qtel, the sole internet provider in the State of Qatar, is blocking a very useful and informative site (at least to a photographer or enthusiast)? This is definitely ridiculous.

WTF!

Independence Day

Philippine FlagOn this 109th year of Philippine Independence, I’m hanging the Philippine flag on this piece of online space to tell the world that I am forever proud of being a Filipino!

But, perhaps, talking of my beloved country, indeed, there’s no other place like home. Not even the wealth of the desert nor the beauty of the mountains, nor the skyscrapers of the crowded cities can ever replace that.

There can only be one home, and I’m homeward bound….

(in two or three months….) 🙂

Homeward Bound
by: Simon & Garfunkel

Im sittin in the railway station
Got a ticket for my destination
On a tour of one night stands
My suitcase and guitar in hand
And every stop is neatly planned
For a poet and a one man band

Homeward bound
I wish I was
Homeward bound
Home, where my thoughts escaping
Home, where my musics playing
Home, where my love lies waiting
Silently for me

Everydays an endless stream
Of cigarettes and magazines
And each town looks the same to me
The movies and the factories
And every strangers face I see
Reminds me that I long to be

Homeward bound
I wish I was
Homeward bound
Home, where my thoughts escaping
Home, where my musics playing
Home, where my love lies waiting
Silently for me

Tonight Ill sing my songs again
Ill play the game and pretend
But all my words come back to me
In shades of mediocrity
Like emptyness in harmony
I need someone to comfort me

Homeward bound
I wish I was
Homeward bound
Home, where my thoughts escaping
Home, where my musics playing
Home, where my love lies waiting
Silently for me
Silently for me
Silently for me

Why His Airness?

Reading through some articles and blogs about Lebron James’ 48-point performance during the Game 5 of this year’s Eastern Conference Finals, I came to realize that in every NBA superstar stint, Michael Jordan will always be the barometer for them all.

lebron-james.jpgJames’ performance in the last game (Game 5) is truly exceptional, scoring 29 of his team’s last 30 points, and scoring his team’s last 25 points. It was simply Lebron James versus Detroit Pistons especially in the last 16 minutes of the game (inclusive of the two overtime minutes).

But I kept wondering why Michael Jordan-like performance is always the gauge to measure any other current NBA superstar’s game. Why MJ? Why not the greatness of the likes of Jonathan Bender, Darius Miles, Ricky Davis, Pau Gasol, Allen Iverson, Ray Allen, Desagana Diop, and Art Long?
