Independence Day

Philippine FlagOn this 109th year of Philippine Independence, I’m hanging the Philippine flag on this piece of online space to tell the world that I am forever proud of being a Filipino!

But, perhaps, talking of my beloved country, indeed, there’s no other place like home. Not even the wealth of the desert nor the beauty of the mountains, nor the skyscrapers of the crowded cities can ever replace that.

There can only be one home, and I’m homeward bound….

(in two or three months….) 🙂

Homeward Bound
by: Simon & Garfunkel

Im sittin in the railway station
Got a ticket for my destination
On a tour of one night stands
My suitcase and guitar in hand
And every stop is neatly planned
For a poet and a one man band

Homeward bound
I wish I was
Homeward bound
Home, where my thoughts escaping
Home, where my musics playing
Home, where my love lies waiting
Silently for me

Everydays an endless stream
Of cigarettes and magazines
And each town looks the same to me
The movies and the factories
And every strangers face I see
Reminds me that I long to be

Homeward bound
I wish I was
Homeward bound
Home, where my thoughts escaping
Home, where my musics playing
Home, where my love lies waiting
Silently for me

Tonight Ill sing my songs again
Ill play the game and pretend
But all my words come back to me
In shades of mediocrity
Like emptyness in harmony
I need someone to comfort me

Homeward bound
I wish I was
Homeward bound
Home, where my thoughts escaping
Home, where my musics playing
Home, where my love lies waiting
Silently for me
Silently for me
Silently for me

What it Takes for a Great Photo

Perhaps, the most common rudeness a photographer (or a hobbyist or enthusiast for tha matter) takes from ordinary people is when those people give credit to the high-tech-ness and price of the camera or gear for a great photo.

Doing such, according to Chris Orwig in his video tutorial, is like awarding credits to the pans and cooking utensils for a wonderful delicious food, not the cook.

One oftentimes look past the creativity in a photographer, especially when one sees the camera as a one-click device. A point-and-shoot camera becomes more than a point and shoot in the hands of a professional photographer.

Anyway, what actually prompted me to write this entry is the thread I read in the Digital Photographer Philippines forum, about the weirdest comment one gets for his photo. I was so thrilled reading the thread that I felt I need to share them here. Some of my favorites:

ay bakit blurred yung background

ganda ng picture mo, saang website mo to na download?

‘uy take a picture of me naman, close-up ha, oh and please ayoko kita pimples ko ha’ …(ngek panning ko kaya mukha mo, takbo!!!)

A Rico-less Rivermaya

It’s actually in the news since last week (Read here). Rico Blanco himself announced the same in his brand new multiply account.

Rivermaya is one of my favorite Filipino bands, even since the 90’s era. And I’m saddened by this news. Let’s admit it, Rico is a very talented artist, no doubt.

Surely, Rivermaya has survived being Bamboo-less. But, can it further survive being Rico-less?

Why His Airness?

Reading through some articles and blogs about Lebron James’ 48-point performance during the Game 5 of this year’s Eastern Conference Finals, I came to realize that in every NBA superstar stint, Michael Jordan will always be the barometer for them all.

lebron-james.jpgJames’ performance in the last game (Game 5) is truly exceptional, scoring 29 of his team’s last 30 points, and scoring his team’s last 25 points. It was simply Lebron James versus Detroit Pistons especially in the last 16 minutes of the game (inclusive of the two overtime minutes).

But I kept wondering why Michael Jordan-like performance is always the gauge to measure any other current NBA superstar’s game. Why MJ? Why not the greatness of the likes of Jonathan Bender, Darius Miles, Ricky Davis, Pau Gasol, Allen Iverson, Ray Allen, Desagana Diop, and Art Long?

Yahoo! Mail Offers Are Here

Selaplana broke this news today.

I remembered my previous posts regarding Yahoo! Mail here and here. I instantaneously opened my Yahoo! Mail today and guess what I found:

Yahoo! Mail Kaboom!
I switched back to the new Yahoo! Mail beta and more surprises:

Yahoo! Mail 1

Yahoo! Mail 2

Yahoo! Mail 3

Yahoo! Mail 4

Checking out further, however, my other Yahoo! Mail accounts are not yet upgraded with these features. As what Yahoo! mentioned in its blog, they will be rolling out these features over a few months, so it will hit each account one by one. You just have to wait and check your inbox regularly.

So, what do I think of these new developments? I think it’s cool! Any further comments? No!
