May 17, 2008 – Deuts.NET celebrates two years of online existence with a new look.
Two years, 396 posts, and 1,234 comments later, Deuts.NET has clearly reached a milestone. A time to reflect, a reason to celebrate, and a season to look forward to two more years and beyond.
Published today (May 16, 2008) in the Philippine Daily Inquirer an article by Ms. Edel Mary D. Vegamora, CIA, the CIA Country Coordinator-Philippines, the revised version of her earlier article (posted here), this one entitled, “Filipino Auditors on Top of the World”.
Excerpt follows:
There is more reason to rejoice as we have 217 more CIAs in the Philippines, the highest passing figure so far since the CIA examination was conducted in the Philippines. There was a deluge of examinees in November 2007, 496 to be exact, when The Institute of Internal Auditors Inc., International announced in January 8, 2007 that they would shift from paper to computer-based examinations beginning 2008.
My moo cards, which serve as my (business) personal cards.
Honestly, I’m disappointed with the latest release of Ubuntu, the Ubuntu 8.04 LTS otherwise known as Hardy Heron.
I became quite excited when the final version was about to be released. As soon as it was available, I didn’t waste time and downloaded it at once. Installed the same over the previous version (v7.10, Gutsy Gibbon) in the extended partition.
However, much to my disappointment, my wireless network card didn’t work!
Even before the final round started, the current world’s youngest GM was already the sure winner. As promised, here’s the final standings and the gallery of pictures I took during the 11th and final round of the tournament.

I just grabbed this opportunity to have a photo taken with the future chess superstar who will hopefully someday join the ranks of super GM’s like Viswanathan Anand, Veselin Topalov, and Vladimir Kramnik. I know that it may yet be far from reality, but who knows, being the youngest grandmaster in the world of chess, Filipino Wesley So has still a long way to go.
Philippine National Bank and Allied Banking Corp., which are both owned by tycoon Lucio Tan, have approved a plan to merge to become the country’s fourth largest bank in terms of assets. The merged bank will retain the name Philippine National Bank.

It’s a Western Digital My Book Premium Edition 500GB, that used to hold thousands of my pictures ever since I bought my Canon EOS 30D. Add to that the thousands as well of audio, video, programs, and data files. This is the picture that’s worth a thousand pictures.
Save for the images uploaded and saved in flickr, this is what remains of my photos… of Deuts.NET Photography.
Republic Act 8424 (Philippine Law), otherwise known as the Tax Reform Act of 1997 or the Revised National Internal Revenue Code (NIRC) of 1997, which became effective in 1998, is already more than a decade old law. It’s basically a comprehensive law that covers all national taxes from income tax for individuals and corporations, estate and donor’s tax, value added tax, other percentage taxes, excise tax on certain goods, and documentary stamp taxes.
The law is old enough that, as a matter of fact, certain provisions have already been revised just like the income tax for corporations and the Expanded Value Added Tax. What marvels me is why there’s no change, or at least any proposed changes underway (none that I heard of), in income tax for individuals.
