What, basically is a concept car? Wikipedia defines it as:

A concept car (also known as concept vehicle, show vehicle or prototype) is a car made to showcase new styling and/or new technology. They are often shown at motor shows to gauge customer reaction to new and radical designs which may or may not be mass-produced.

Taking delight in my all-wheel drive

Top Gear Philippines (TGP), in its article ‘This is the reason you buy a go-anywhere AWD vehicle‘, writes:

Yes, crossovers are mostly used in and around the city. But in those rare moments when you just want to live life to the fullest and take the road less traveled, you’ll thank yourself you purchased a ride blessed with all-wheel drive.

Personally, I don’t go that much to such adventures. I may sound just trying to take delight in my decision that I got a Subaru XV, but the fact that my Liana (my Subaru XV) is proudly equipped with symmetrical all-wheel drive actually brings me peace of mind when my travels take me along some muddy roads and the like. The battle for subcompact SUV supremacy

When I bought my Subaru XV last year (July 2014), there was really only one challenger in its segment: the Mitsubishi ASX. (I will put the Ford Ecosport in the same category as the Kia Soul and the new Hyundai i20 Cross, while the Kia Sportage with Hyundai Tucson and the old Ford Escape.)

But then, Honda introduced the HR-V early this year; and more recently, Nissan with the Juke and Cheverolet with the Trax. The Mazda CX-3 is yet unsure whether to enter the Philippine market or not. Continue reading

The reasons you should buy a Subaru XV (Crosstrek)

Just a disclaimer, I own a Subaru XV. Even though I bought one last year, I still scrounge the internet, particularly Youtube, for the latest about the Subaru XV. Perhaps I’m just trying to reaffirm to myself that I made the right choice.

Yet, if you’re in the market for a new car, you should give the Subaru XV (or Subaru XV Crosstrek in the US) a serious consideration. Autotrader listed down the reasons you should buy one. They have separate videos for the 2014 and 2015 versions, which you may watch below:

Why I’m reluctant to install a dashcam

Top Gear Philippines (TGP) writes: Every driver should now get a dashboard camera; here’s one for your consideration.

I have to say the TGP article isn’t really about selling the idea of why dashboard cameras are a must for all drivers, but I myself am totally convinced that indeed I should get one. In fact, the same Transcend DrivePro 200 is in my short list.

The only problem I have with that is dealing with the cables that go with the setup. Not that I always keep a nifty car dashboard and/or console, but the nasty wirings is surely an additional item to worry about.

So, unless there’s a dashboard that enables a nifty setup, I’m holding off my purchase.

Honda Philippines releases Honda Civic 2015

Honda Civic 2015

Honda Philippines announced the availability of the new 2015 Honda Civic at its authorized dealerships starting this November 2014. This time, the Civic will be available in 3 additional variants (for a total of 6), which now includes a 5-speed manual transmission option.

Wait, the big question is, can they already deliver even on the Honda Civic 2014 model (which they just actually released in late May this year)?

I remember ordering the Honda Civic Modulo variant in June, paid the reservation fee, but that they failed to deliver for almost a month. That’s why I opted for the Subaru XV instead — and no regrets!

I checked in mid August and I found out they were only able to fill 5 orders nationwide for the same variant.

To be fair to Honda Philippines, though, their inability to deliver on my order was related to the issue of Manila port congestion.
