Bancnet and Expressnet Link-up
It was once featured in Deuts Top Stories the link-up between the two ATM networks, namely; Bancnet and Expressnet.
The interconnection between the two networks has been in the news (broken link, thanks to inconsistent Manila Times online) since June 21, 2006, yet I didn’t have the opportunity to try to withdraw in any expressnet affiliated banks (e.g., BPI, BDO, HSBC, Landbank) until yesterday.
Since 1993, there has been an alliance between Bancnet and Megalink, while Megalink made an alliance with Expressnet in 1997. Transactions made between these interconnected netwoks are charged with service fees that vary between PhP2.50 to PhP12.00 (depending on the bank) against the ATM cardholders. Transactions, however, between Bancnet and Expressnet were used to be charged US$3.50 service fee per transaction. Metrobank E.T. cardholders, especially, were explicitly warned about these charges. You’ll find these warnings posted in Metrobank ATM booths.
New Email Service

Recently, the Google Team has approved my application under its “Gmail for your Domain” service as a beta tester. As a beta tester, I was given the opportunity to create at most 25 email addresses under deuts.net (i.e., [username]@deuts.net).

- www.therapistfinder.com – if you’re looking for therapists.
- www.powergenitalia.com – an Italian Power Generator company.
- www.molestationnursery.com – Mole Station Native Nursery in New South Wales.
deuts.net Accounting Profile
I’ve searched in the internet for a site or blog that discusses, or at least able to discuss, about accounting and audit, especially as may be applicable to the Philippine settings. And my search failed.
Philippine accounting organizations and institutions like the Philippine Institute of Certified Public Accountants (PICPA) and the Board of Accountancy failed to provide for a specific field in the internet for accountants to converge and share ideas regarding their thoughts about the standards and the accounting and auditing practice in the Philippines. Even Philippine accounting and auditing firms like SGV & Co. (Ernst & Young), Isla Lipana & Co.(formerly Joaquin Cunanan & Co.) (PriceWaterHouse Coopers), Laya Manangyahaya (KPMG), Punongbayan & Araullo (Grant Thornton International), C.L. Manabat & Co. (Deloitte), don’t really have a dedicated page or site to discuss issues related to accounting and auditing issues, especially as regards gray areas of Philippine and international accounting.

Yahoo! Toolbar and Tab Browsing
I’ve just installed the latest Yahoo! toolbar in my Internet Explorer, and it came with it the feature of tab browsing.
The tab browsing is cool, which I liked since I started trying out Mozilla Firefox and Netscape. However, unlike the latter (Firefox and Netscape), the tab browsing in Internet Explorer does not seem to permit opening a link in a new tab (instead of the new window), which facilitates easy navigation because of the uncluttered look.
Taking into consideration the feature of tab browsing (especially in Netscape), I should already have dumped Internet Explorer. However, some websites that I frequently visit (e.g. chessworld.net) doesn’t just display correctly in Firefox and Netscape.

In The Undersigned, there is a discussion about maintaining a business/corporate blog. The author offered some advantages such a move could make should a company decide to create a business blog.

It seems like edz_raya has yet more to learn from his master (LOL). Well, if you are to make reference to a person especially if that person has a homepage of his/her own, you should at least insert a hyperlink to his/her website. That is just common blogger practice.
Auditor and Technology; Importance of Data Security
As auditors, we gather information from the client by conducting interviews, obtaining schedules and documents. Oftentimes, these information are sensitive in a manner by which it can prejudice the position of the client/company should these fall into the hands of the wrong parties. Auditors are expected to handle these information in a professional fashion.
Client information or data (other than those obtained through interviews) usually come in the form of physical documents or electronic files. Electronic files are normally transferred between terminals via electronic media like floppy disks, CD’s, and USB flash drives.
