Kevin Garnett to Boston

Now, I’m wondering what Sherwin has to say about this:

BOSTON, July 30 (AP)– Kevin Garnett is leaving Minnesota after the Boston Celtics agreed to acquire the All-Star forward in a multiplayer trade with the Timberwolves, a Celtics official told The Associated Press on Monday.

Among the players who could be headed to Minnesota are forward Al Jefferson, guard Sebastian Telfair, swingman Gerald Green and center Theo Ratliff. (Source)

With Paul Pierce, Ray Allen and Kevin Garnett, will it translate to a powerhouse Boston Celtics?

  1. I was planning to write something about this at deuts.net but im lost for words. This is so f’ing amazing! it’s like my NBA live 2004 team (which whipped everyone’s butt!) with Garnett and Allen — my usual picks in the first 3 rounds of our draft. It makes me wanna go back to Boston. You can write it down, the celtics will be raising their 17th championship banner in the rafters next season. Yahoo!!!

  2. Wah? Another LA Lakers, Portland Blazers and Dallas Mavericks? Those star studded teams doesnt quite get it going..I wonder if the celts will go all the way? hehehe

  3. Although this development automatically makes the Celtics a contender in the East, it doesn’t assure them of a slot in the Finals. Why? Injuries. Ray Allen, Paul Pierce and KG were all plagued by injuries in previous seasons.

Basketball is a team sport and having three superstars doesn’t mean you have a team. These players each have to take a role and play as a team.

Just like what marky mentioned, other teams have tried this formula and have failed. Anyways, it still remains to be seen and KG, Allen and Pierce might prove us wrong.

One thing for sure, the Celtics is now one of my favorite teams.

  4. @ Marky and Jaypee, yeah, definitely, Boston is a team to watch out for. But not necessarily the contender to the title. Let’s just wait until the games begin….:)

  5. Still, this will make things a bit more interesting from here on. But hey, the ball is round.

Btw, I’m tagging you for the 8 random facts meme. 😀

  6. @ Jhay, I think every blockbuster trade in the NBA proves interesting. Just think about trade negotiations for Bryant. 🙂

Anyway, yeah, I’ll try responding to that tag, as soon as possible. I still have to think of those 8 random facts. And thanks for the tag.
