Ex-Deloitte Philippines Information Hub

The Ex-Deloitte Philippines Information Hub is officially launched. No cutting of ribbons, really. Just putting up the website online.

The site was designed to cater to the former C.L. Manabat & Co. (Deloitte – Philippines) professionals, wherever side of the world they currently are, as a common online hang out. A community where former officemates may meet and greet each other, discuss in forums and topics of common interests, and reminisce the moments we shared during our long or even short stints in the firm.

So, calling all ex-CLMC employees to register and sign-up now for a new account. I look forward to meeting you there.

The Big Four

It’s interesting to note how the Big 8 was cut down into the Big 4. Read how.

The firms were called the Big 8 in the 1970s and 1980s, reflecting the international dominance of the eight largest accountancy firms:

  1. Arthur Andersen
  2. Arthur Young & Company
  3. Coopers & Lybrand
  4. Ernst & Whinney (formerly Ernst & Ernst)
  5. Haskins & Sells (merged with the European firm Deloitte Plender Griffiths to become Deloitte, Haskins and Sells)
  6. KPMG (formed by merger of Peat Marwick International and KMG Group)
  7. Price Waterhouse
  8. Touche Ross

Sports Photography: Take One

This was my first try at sports photography. I needed a fast shutter speed to freeze the action. However, the venue was at the Philippine Navy Gymnasium in Fort Bonifacio, whose only source of light was from the windows, which could also serve as a harsh background when framing directly towards them.

Sports World

How I did it

Because of the limited amount of light entering the gymnasium, I bumped up the ISO to 1600, and set the camera mode to shutter priority (Tv). I noticed that a shutter speed of 1/250 of a second is not enough to freeze the hard packed action, so I increased it a third increment to 1/320 sec. Then I tried positioning myself on a higher ground while avoiding shooting directly against the windows.

A lot of my pictures were underexposed, so I just adjusted them in photoshop, which contributed more (ISO 1600, remember?) in a lot of noise in the pictures.

Stay Music Video

Edwin dropped a comment to our unfinished video uploaded in youtube:

hehehe nakakamiss!

Indeed, we will never forget those days. Those were the moments to remember and cherish…

Malvar, as a reply to the question when will we finish the video, commented that the video will remain “…to be continued…” and incomplete as no one dared to STAY.

Check out the video I posted in youtube more than a year ago (I have not blogged about this before, thus it’s high time to post it here now!):
