The Parish of St. Therese of the Child Jesus is located in Brgy. Talisay, Lipa City, Batangas. It is adjacent to the property of Mount Malarayat Golf & Country Club. Out the open windows (and/or doors) of the church you can see the beautiful golf course.
From the Historical Marker (2009):
The creation of the Parish of St. Therese of the Child Jesus and of the Holy Face was upon instruction of H.E. Most Rev. Ramon C. Arguelles, D.D., Archbishop of Lipa, to shepherd the barangays of Talisay and Lumbang of Lipa City and barangays Sta. Cruz and Sta. Teresita of Sto. Tomas, Batangas into a vibrant community; more so, to inspire devotees to emulate St. Therese’s simplicity and child-like love for the Father. As a nascent parish it has been part of a fitting preparation for the Centennial celebration of the Archdiocese of Lipa on April 10, 2010.
The Parish is strategically located in Talisay, Lipa City, on a lot donated by Architect Antonio A. Turalba St., President of the Mount Malarayat Golf & Country Club.
The Church edifice, designed by Architect Maria Cristina V. Turalba, is truly a Church of the faithful because it was built upon the generosity of the donors, rich and poor, sung and unsung, in and out of Lipa City. The design was executed by Engr. Roldan L. Lopez, engineer-in-charge of the construction. The whole process of building, beautifying and finishing was done by the Rev. Fr. Hermogenes “jun” Quiambao, Parish Priest, in tandem with Engr. Lopez as co-administrator. Not to be outdone was the moral and financial support of the mother parish, San Sebastian Cathedral Parish of Lipa City, headed by Rev. Fr. Ernesto I. Mandanas Jr.
The building of the shell kickstarted on July 7, 2008 and was blessed on December 14, 2008. After the shell, its embellishment resumed on January 5, 2009. Finally, after only fifteen months of construction the Solemn Building and Dedication, including the canonical erection was held on October 10, 2009, officiated by H.E. Archbishop Ramon C. Arguells, with Fr. “Jun” Quiambao as First Pastor.
It is with so much gratitude that Rev. Fr. “Jun” Quiambao elevates to God the sacrifices and generosity of its benefactors, donors, sponsors, workers and volunteers who helped make this dream edifice possible.
