deuts.net Accounting Profile

I’ve searched in the internet for a site or blog that discusses, or at least able to discuss, about accounting and audit, especially as may be applicable to the Philippine settings. And my search failed.

Philippine accounting organizations and institutions like the Philippine Institute of Certified Public Accountants (PICPA) and the Board of Accountancy failed to provide for a specific field in the internet for accountants to converge and share ideas regarding their thoughts about the standards and the accounting and auditing practice in the Philippines. Even Philippine accounting and auditing firms like SGV & Co. (Ernst & Young), Isla Lipana & Co.(formerly Joaquin Cunanan & Co.) (PriceWaterHouse Coopers), Laya Manangyahaya (KPMG), Punongbayan & Araullo (Grant Thornton International), C.L. Manabat & Co. (Deloitte), don’t really have a dedicated page or site to discuss issues related to accounting and auditing issues, especially as regards gray areas of Philippine and international accounting.

As an accountant, please consider this site as my contribution to the profession. I know there are a lot of things still to be done, but this is the only way I know (do I sound soooo helpless?). This site is still in evolution!

Yet, I would like to lay out my plan for this site: maybe in the “near future” I will accept contributors to this site. So guys, those who have special ideas in mind, if it’s related to accounting, audit, accounting and audit resources, internet, technology, chess, literature, current events, Philippine politics, sports, entertainment, gossips, or maybe you would just like to speak out your mind, or maybe you just want to greet someone, or maybe special someone, I would like to consider those.

So how can you be a contributor?

1. First, you have to email me your intention to be a contributor;

2. You have to register to my site by clicking the login link at the upper right hand corner of this page;
login

3. Enter your preferred username and email address. The password will be emailed to you so you can already log-in;
register

4. Upon my review, I will change your subscription status to contributor, by then, you can create and save entries.

5. After you have created an entry/post, of course you have to save it, I will try to review it and if approved, I will have it published in your name.

Now, depending on your posting frequency and the content of your posts, I may consider you and change your status to “Author” so that you can directly publish your entries in your future posts.

So what do these all have to do with the status of Philippine accounting? Well, I can offer this site to be a community-driven site, and if given appropriate resources, especially geared towards Philippine and International accounting and auditing. So what do you think?
