Financial Accounting I 2006 Edition
A new version of “Financial Accounting I” has already been released by Atty. Conrado T. Valix and Jose Peralta. It incorporates the new standards: Philippine Accounting Standards, Philippine Financial Reporting Standards, International Accounting Standards, and International Financial Reporting Standards.
The book has a whole new different look.

It has been 5 years since I last used Valix’s book. It was like a bible during our review for the board exams. Surely, I missed those days when I was yet reading it from cover to cover.
The book can be described as concise but almost complete. Simple but full of information. The context is broad but covers almost every topic.
It seems a must that every reviewee hold a copy of this book during the review. Surely, Atty. Valix found his niche into the accountancy profession.

Hi Jason, I appreciate very much you stopping by my website. As far as I know, during our review, Atty. Valix provides answer keys of his books to faculty members and others in the academe practice. You may want to approach any accounting faculty members about this. Sorry, I don’t have contact with Atty. Valix, even email.
Thanks again for dropping by.

I am also a student from University of San Carlos Main Campus. I prefered to use the Financial Accounting books of Atty. Valix because we the students can easily understand the theory parts on this book rather than using the books of the other author.

Hey, thanks for visiting my site. I’m glad that we have a lot of accounting students here. Hopefully, if I have more time soon to blog, I’ll discuss about accounting. I mean, we can discuss about accounting. I actually already have topics in mind, and they are especially about the gray areas of accounting and auditing.
Well, if you have particular accounting issues to discuss, or maybe just any acocunting experience, you are welcome to post it here. You may register and post an entry for me to publish after a review.

Tips? I think I’ve mentioned it already that Valix’s book is concise but complete. It is worthwhile to note of every statement he says in the book. They are very important. You might not find it important at first read, but I tell you, you’ll realize soon that after all you needed those information.
Thanks for dropping by my website, and by the way, where is Nueva Caceres?
Val · October 11th, 2006 at 5:57 pm #
That’s in Bicol Region. I cannot forget that university because it garnered second place in a National chess tournament among universities and colleges in the mid 90’s.
Speaking of tips, just reads ALL the books you may find in bookstores or libraries authored by Valix. Of course just read the latest editions.

@ Val, so have you been there? What do you think will happen to the World Chess Championship Match in Elista? Score right now is 5.5 to 5.5? How do you think will the the Game 5 “forfeit” controversy be resolved? Tough question, hey? hehehhehe :)
Val · October 11th, 2006 at 7:33 pm #
To be honest I really don’t know. I hope those idiots will now come to their senses to resolve the controversy as soon as possible.

Do u mean PAS/IAS and PFRS/IFRS. Well, I’ve made some search in the past and I found out that they were not available anywhere (i.e., online). However, you can browse through some summaries of those standards in sites like the Deloitte’s IAS Plus.

Merry Christmas Sir!
I’m a student from Wesleyan University-Philippines in Nueva Ecija. I have studied your book in Practical Accounting. Is there a continuation of that book–something like Practical Accounting 2?
Anyway, I appreciate the flow of your explanation in your book. It helps me to solve different problems, specially in our examinations.
Sir, why don’t you come and visit Wesleyan? It is an honor for us to have a guest speaker in our next College of Business Administration and Accountancy Day.

Justin, you should understand that this is my personal blogsite. I have no way of knowing whether Atty. Valix has ever read this post of mine. So I’m not exactly sure whether you have conveyed your message in the correct medium. Thanks for dropping by my site, though.

Also can you recommend a good book/author about Cost Accounting or Managerial Accounting? I am currently upgrading my Accounting degree here in Manitoba, Canada under a joint program by the government and CGA - Manitoba called “Internationally Trained Accountancy Program”. CGA (Certified General Accountants). This program are for new immigrants who meet and passed certain qualifications. I was able to get hold of the Financial Accounting 1 & 2 books of Mr. Valix & Mr. Peralta, 2000 edition. The books are easier to understand. I mean, straight to the point. If you can tell me where my relatives in the philippines can buy it. They are from makati. Somebody will be comming here before the year ends. PLEASE..also, the answer books??..

I, Valix din..o kung gusto mo din mahirapan and to see more difficult solutions get also the Pract I of UBERITA..tapos if you want more challenge acquire the book of MA. Elenita B. “Be dead serious.. Resolve to become a CPA! If you are not serious, stop it! To become a CPA you owe it to yourselves. You must be honest with yourself. Am i dead serious?ask yourself. The formula is to be determined to become a CPA. Teachers see themselves in you but they do not matter. The core of the matter is you. Develop self-discipline. Be a CPA with or without a teacher. Avoid a quack mind. Don’t copy the work of others. Learning must be your own effort. I know that your parents are working hard for you. Think about them. They save every peso just for you to become a CPA. Wage yourself against your present situation. Society is against poor condition. Communicate with God. Your parents are proud to send you to school of Accountancy. Reciprocate them by becoming a Certified Public Accountant.”

in our school kasi, mejo may discrepancy regarding the books. parang read what you want/can so long as makakakonek ka sa mga topics. in our case, pagdating sa accounting, our prof requires us to study (when i mean study, i mean really read, understand and solve) as much books as we can. most of the students in ncr, especially those accounting schools na nasa University Belt, more often than not, may mga valix books yan. yep, the financial accounting of valix is now divided into 3 volumes. dunno what happened, but i believe, it’s because of the demand. maraming bumibili eh, kaya ganun, more profit. if you get what i mean. hehe. un! i believe, pare parehas lang ang laman ng financial accounting books niya starting 2006. kasi ang alam ko 2005 pa nagkaroon ng amendments sa standards. hehe.. sige, gudluck ulit! keep posting. hehe. ^_^

Thanks for making a review about the accounting book written by Valix. I’m looking for other accounting books written by Valix(the basic accounting books to be speific) because it’s my first year in San Beda College, Manila and I have difficulties of attending accounting classes due to schedule problems. I know that I can improve my grades if I’ll be able to get a copy of practical accounting 1 and 2. Can you tell me where to get a copy in Manila so that I will be able to make it in the qualifying exam( the qualifying exam, our professors said, was like a board exam that contains practical accounting 1 and 2). Thanks a lot. Your site is very useful.

Hi Katy, I am a coming reviewee of CPAR in Manila. I am also a self reviewing student because my school is not that competitive but my advice for books and authors are:
Auditing Problems - Cabrera or
Auditing Theory - Cabrera
Practical Accounting 1 - Valix or Uberita
Practical Accounting 2 - Guerrero
Commercial Law - Suarez
Taxation - Reyes
MAS - Cabrera
Theory of Accounts - Valix
Kukuha din ako ng exam this October, ang latest news is ihihiwalay na ang Taxation sa Business Law. So 8 board subjects na at nagpaplano na sila na magdagdag ng Marketing, Business Finance and Eco.

Hi Deuts,
I like to have a copy of Valix Financial Acctg Vol 1 & 2. Been away for 3 years now so I dont know what is the newest edition. I have passed the board year 2003 and currently living in NZ now & working in one of the top accounting firm. I am trying to requalify and like to do a wee bit of reading of IAS (NZ is based on chartered acctg and just about to adopt IAS) As far as I know eh IAS basis ni Valix. Valix’s books were the one I used before and sabi mo nga nakabisa ko din ng cover to cover Color green and maroon pa nga noon).

To Ram eto number ko. 09275708910, or email me at virdelafuente[at]yahoo.com. Salamat sa tulong. Sa CPAR ako kasi all star yung reviewers dun tsaka nag enroll na din kasi ako. Im from Las Pinas College. Salamat.
